Black fluid is pumped through two walls in synchronization. It raises and lowers according to 1000 years of daylight and darkness data for Iceland. One thousand years are compressed into the duration of the six-week exhibition. The eight channel accompanying audio, recorded with the Icelandic Polyphonic Choir, adds to the mechanized respiration of the room. The white space volumetrically fills with darkness, and then empties bringing white light.
In either adjacent room hangs two ceiling installations. The ceiling bulges down under the weight of a cluster of cast white stones (pharmaceutical starch) which hang from it. The formations resembles traditional loom weights.
Eucrasia/Dyscrasia opened at 18:06 on the 2007 Summer Solstice at Kling & Bang Gallerí in Reykjavík.
